About the author
Jeff Sellers writes from the place he knows.
Jeff was born and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and has never lived outside the northeastern part of the state. He graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and writes about the country he grew up in.
His new book, The State That Almost Was, follows the people and places of eastern Oklahoma and Indian Territory. It treats family stories as stories and looks to the historical record when making factual claims.

Jeff is also a woodworker. His earlier book, Mistakes I Made So You Don't Have To: An Honest Beginner's Guide to Woodworking, shares the things he got wrong so new makers can learn from them.
Across both subjects, he writes for readers who want a clear account of how something happened and what the evidence can tell us.
